Bokury returns to Victory after 13 years

Former National Football team winger, Hussain Niyaz Mohamed (Bokury) returns to Victory Sports Club after 13 years for the upcoming football season.

A talented speedstar, Bokury, 35, started his career with Victory back in 2007. Back then, Victory Coach Ali Suzain gave Bokury his debut in a red shirt, where he learned a lot in four seasons with them. Bokury earned his first National Call up when he was playing at Victory.

After four years with Victory, Bokury then moved to Maziya S&R. He played two seasons with the Green Boys, 2011 & 2012. He then decided to take the chance to join New Radiant Sports Club, and was a key part of New Radiant’s record success in 2013, under the helm of Bulgarian tactician Velizar Popov.

Bokury played one season in the top tier of Maldives football in the colours of his native island. Mahibadhoo Sports Club was in the Dhivehi league in 2014. In that season, Bokury was one of the key leaders of the team.

After a year in the Mahibadhoo team, Bokury moved to Maziya for a second stint in 2015. But this term his three-year spell at the club was haunted by injury issues and he decided to leave the top tier of Maldives Football after the 2017 season concluded.

In recent years, Bokury has played the majority of second division football tournaments, and he was once champion of the second division with Valencia and he played one season for Valencia in the first division in 2020.

Last year, Bokury played for JJ Sports Club in the second division and showcased brilliant performances. After returning to Victory, where it all began for Bokury, he is aiming to play a vital role in Victory’s surge towards promotion.
