Ras Vaadha: Victory and New to battle for a promotion spot!

It’s been more than three years, since Victory Sports Club & New Radiant Sports Club, competed in the top tier of Maldives Football. Today, in the ongoing FAM MPL 2nd Division Football Tournament, Victory SC and New will face each other in the semi-final, the winner gets a spot in the final and earns a promotion to Dhivehi Premier League. 

This is the second successive season, that Victory SC and New are competing in the second division. Back from suspension, Victory SC and New took part in the last edition of the Second Division tournament. Victory SC couldn’t pass the group stage and New was knocked out by Buru Sports Club in the semi-final. 

In this year’s Second Division Football Tournament, Victory SC and New, both won all the games up to this stage. The hundred percent winning record of both teams means today’s battle will be a much more interesting one for the spectators. 

Coach Sobah Mohamed (Soba), was the in the dugout for New in the last term when these two teams met in the previous match in the second division. New defeated Victory SC by 4-1 in the group stage round. 

Victory SC had to battle hard to earn a semi-final spot against Kuda Henveiru United in the quarter-final. On the other hand, New cruised past Club PK  to reach the semi-final. 

“Ras Vaadha” is the name for the battle between Victory and New. Because it’s the clash of two kings of Maldives Football. 

Victory and New Radiants match will kick off at 15:30.
