Victory SC defeats PK in the opener
Victory Sports Club defeated Club PK by 3-0 to start their 2nd Division season on a high.
One of the most well accumulated squad for this seasons FAM 2nd Division Football Tournament, Victory SC named a very strong starting line-up, under the captaincy of former National Team, skipper, Akram Abdul Ghani (Aku). PK is also one of the strongest team in this seasons competition.
Victory SC missed great early chances, until 35th minute, when Kyrgyzstan International, Anatoly Vlasichev met Serbian Milos Kovacevic cross. From inside the PK's area, Anatoly’s half volley smashed into the roof of the net. Anatoly had previously two successful spells in Maldives with, TC Sports Club and United Victory in the Premier Division.
Mohamed Umair missed couple of good scoring opportunities for the Reds.
Victory SC doubled their lead from a penalty struck by Faroukh, in 55th minute of the game. Referee decided to award a penalty to Victory SC, after their winger, Ibrahim Rizhaan was brought down inside the area by PK’s Hassan Ibrahim.
Substitute, Belarusian forward, Ivan Veras scored Victory SC’s third goal in the game, which sealed the win for the giants. Veras pin point header found the far corner, PK’s goalkeeper Tholaal Hassan couldn’t reach to the ball.
Along with Victory SC, four other teams are set battle in Group C Those teams are, CLUB PK, Lorenzo Sports Club, Bis Buru Sports and Lagoons.
Victory SC is set to play against Lorenzo in their second game, which is scheduled for January 10th.
