Sri Lankan former National football player Pakir Ali, was one of the foreign players who played in the Maldives in the 80s. He had some coaching stints at L. Gan, and is a familiar figure in the Maldivian football industry.
Under the era of new chairman and former Victory SC player, Hussain Adam (Adambe), Victory has cleared their pending payments due to the fact that FAM Congress had lifted the suspension. Victory was suspended from all football activities back in December 2019.
Victory SC is on course to take part in this years second division football tournament which is scheduled to go ahead this month. Former Sri Lankan National Team Coach, Pakir was unveiled as the coach of Victory SC on June 4th.
“I have known Victory SC from long ago, during my playing days here. I saw Victory producing many national level players. I believe Victory’s vision must not evolve only by getting back into the 1st division. Victory must go on with a plan to be back where the club was before. I'm proud to be in this process” Pakir stated during the press conference for his introduction as Victory SC Coach.
To prepare for the second division competition, Pakir had a training camp in Lh. Hinnavaru. The current Victory squad has players who previously played in the first division and four foreign players. Pakir believed the management of Victory SC had done everything in their capability to accumulate a squad worth fighting for the promotion.
Victory SC is in group B of the second division along with New Radiant SC, Club 010, LT Sports, Club Teenage, BG Sports Club, Club Teenage, Lorenzo Sports Club and Mahibadhoo Sports.
Victory will play their first game against BG Sports Club on 15th July 2022.
