Victory Sports Club will play their first official game in three years, as they take on BG Sports Club tomorrow evening at 1600 hrs, in the FAM Second Division Football Tournament.
Under the era of former player, current Chairman Hussain Adam (Adambe), Victory is aiming towards promotion to the first tier of Maldives football. Victory will be guided by experienced Sri Lankan coach Pakir Ali.
Back from FAM’s suspension, Victory are set to take on a huge task to secure a place in the top division. They face tough battles in the group itself. Victory is in the same group as BG, Club 010, New Radiant Sports Club, LT Sports, Club Teenage, Lorenzo Sports Club and Mahibadhoo Sports.
Two teams from each group will proceed to the semi-finals. After the semi-finals, two of the finalists will reach the Dhivehi Premier league play-off round. The playoff round will take place between the champion and runnerup of the 2nd division and the two bottom sides of the Ooredoo Dhivehi Premier League 2022.
Victory SC's current squad consists of four foreign players with locals. Among the locals, former national football team player, 2018 SAFF Championship title winner, Ahmed Imaaz (Aaakko) is present and more players from local islands who played for various first and second division clubs.
